Meet the Team
We are a small but happy group of five people of various ages and backgrounds with a wealth of skills and experience, and all dedicated to the care of your cats.
The people you see on these pages are the people who will be looking after your cats.
We are not an agency. We don’t recruit randomly or temporarily. Every single Cat Calls team member has undergone a minimum of 6 months specific Cat Calls training.
When not looking after your cats we all volunteer for various charities/organisations and are DBS checked according to their requirements.
Of course, we are fully and comprehensively insured.
Jane says “I have owned and run Cat Calls for over 25 very happy years. This has enabled me to broaden my knowledge of feline behaviour and offer advice to our clients and their cats.
Working closely with such a great team of dedicated cat-carers is incredibly rewarding.
Running Cat Calls brings me into contact with people from all walks of life who all have one thing in common – they all love their cats.
Homing a rescue cat made me investigate alternatives to catteries, as she was terrified of being caged again, and that’s how Cat Calls began all those years ago.
My other passions include horses and motorcycles. I’ve worked with horses in California and I spent several happy years in the courier industry.
I am a registered volunteer with our local hospice St Christopher’s.”
Laura joined Cat Calls originally as an admin assistant, and has been making calls for over 4 years.
She is now our assistant manager.
Laura says “I’m originally from New Zealand and having grown up with all manner of pets and farm animals, I’m so glad to have a job that combines animal love with an outdoorsy life.
My other main motivations are connection to nature and community. I have also recently rekindled my love of horse riding. It seems to be a Cat Calls thing!
I am a member of our local Transition Town, as well as volunteering with refugee relations group Local Welcome."
Jane S (often called Skippy, so we don’t get our Janes mixed up!) has been with Cat Calls for over 5 years.
Skippy says “Before I joined the Cat Calls team, I was a client who had chosen Cat Calls to care for my own precious cat Mickey.
When my predecessor, Pennie, retired after 8 years, I was delighted to step into her place, and I’ve really enjoyed working with the cats over the last few years.
My other main passion is horses – I ride as often as I can.
I volunteer weekly as a visitor at our local Leonard Cheshire Home.”
Lesley Morris Hill
Lesley was a client for a whopping 10 years before asking to become a team member!
Lesley says “Cat Calls have looked after my own Megan and Lucy for the last 10 years when I’ve been away. When I took a very early retirement and was looking for part time work with animals, the opportunity that came up with Cat Calls was ideal.
I enjoy meeting the individual cats and getting to know their special needs and quirks .
My other passions can be summed up in two words. Bruce & Springsteen.
No way you’re getting me on a horse!
I volunteer on a weekly basis for both Celia Hammond Animal Trust and Kings College Hospital.”
Lesley has been making calls for over 3 years.
Ismay has making calls for over 3 years now. She graduated from the prestigious Capel Manor College in Crystal Palace with the highest possible grade of Triple Distinction Star in Level 3 Animal Care and Management.
Ismay says “Having specifically studied animal care at college, this is the purrfect job for me! I enjoy getting to know the individual cats, and those human clients I've met.
I’m hoping to improve my horsey skills so I can keep up with my team members if we all ride out together some day.
I volunteered at Deen City Farm as a teenager, worked on Crystal Palace Farm as part of my training and went on to work at Vauxhall City Farm, so am experienced with and love working with all animals.”
Issy has a particular interest in exotics.
